Well, Gentle Readers,
As expected, rodeo season started off slowly with plenty of time to rest. Then came IGRA University in St Louis with a nasty case of the flu for me. Driving to & from St Louis was an incredible trip down memory lane. I went to college and came out as a gay man in Springfield MO. During summer months I worked as a singer dancer at Six Flags Over Mid-America then moved on to the Muny Opera. After graduation I moved to St L and stayed for 9 years. This is where Victoria was born in ’89 before heading on to New York City the following year.
I got to visit with some long lost friends, revisited some old haunts & French architecture with Sterling as well as attending IGRA U. (and slept whenever possible)
It took some time to recover fully from the flu but finally it passed just in time to start getting ready for A Texas Tradition Rodeo. March 2-4. I am heading up entertainment and Sterling is an Assistant Rodeo Director. The weekend is chocked full of entertainment with live singers, Chris Bade and his Band, The Austin Babtist Women, The Free Ho Lay girls, The S.L.U.T.S., The Heffas in Dresses, The United Court of the Lone Star Empire, and Rodeo Royalty.
This week was filled with passing out fliers, tri-folds & trick cards with TGRA Rodeo info on them. Culminating in our King & Queen of the Rodeo Competition at the Roundup Saloon tomorrow evening.
Life has been busy busy busy with securing sponsorship which we are almost completely covered for everything we can possibly sell (buckles, ribbons, conch o’s, chutes, announcer booth, entertainment stage, you name it. If it stays put for long we get it sponsored!!!)
On my own front besides securing sponsorships plus new individual & commercial members I have be working on a new trademarked Logo for the IGRA Royalty Team and trying to get our first ever Royalty Corporate Sponsorship. I never knew how difficult that actually can be.
Secondly I have been contacting some clubs around Texas to book some fundraising shows. The first four are booked:
Sunday March 11 Buckskin to Broadway at The Dallas Eagle. Sunday April 15. Stars Over Texas at The Rose Room. Sunday June 10 Stars Over Texas Gospel Brunch again at the Eagle and Saturday June 16. Stars Over Texas On The Road Garlow’s in Gun Barrel City. There are more coming throughout Texas and if your Association needs me for something, be it a show or to help mentor the local Royalty program, give me a shout.
This weekend I’m off to AGRA’s Rodeo. Hope to see many of you there so don’t be a stranger. Say HOWDY and I’ll do the same!
