TGRA Rodeo School to be Held in Houston on March 15

The Texas Gay Rodeo Association is proud to announce a Rodeo School to take place on March 15, 2013 at the Pasadena Fair Grounds in Pasadena, Texas.  The School is the second time TGRA has offered this type of educational instruction for qualified individuals in the general public.  The school takes place the Friday before the annual A Texas Tradition Rodeo held March 16 and 17 at the same facility and arena.

Randy Edlin, a past TGRA State president will be the School’s coordinator and primary point of contact.  Edlin is looking forward to holding the courses which begin on Friday morning, March 15 with mandatory safety instruction.  Safety around animals and in the arena during rodeo events is important to be aware of at all times and will be a prerequisite before taking other classes.

Instructors for the school will be hand selected from those with long time experience in Rodeo competition and operations.  Each class will cover the event rules, safety, tips and history given by the instructors.

TGRA rodeo school will offer courses in several rough stock, camp and roping events where those who are unfamiliar with them can come discover what each entails.  Unlike professional rodeos, TGRA operates under International Gay Rodeo Association rules where event such as Steer Decorating and Goat Dressing are offered along with Barrel Racing and Bull Riding.  Although the events are considered to be amateur, they require awareness of the animals, gear precautions and knowledge of the rules to ensure the competitor’s safety and a fun contest.
