Updates on Erin EatonFebruary 21, 2010Many people have been asking about the memorial service for Erin. We're planning the memorial for March 20th here in Los Angeles. In order to make the plans, it would be helpful to know who is planning to attend. If you are planning to attend, please let myself or Lewis Sanders know. You can e-mail me at TBnGRENDEL@aol.com or Lewis Sanders at VoiceRodeo@gmail.com As the plans are finalized, we will let everyone know. Thom Brennan Sunday, February 14, 2010Our beloved Erin has completed her journey here and has gone from this world. "we love her, we miss her, and we know she will always ride with us....." A memorial service is being planned, watch this page or the Yahoo group for details. Thursday, December 24We, Erin's parents, would like to extend to each of you a huge thank you for the out-pouring of love and prayers expended on her behalf. Your cards, letters, balloons, flowers and expressions of caring have enabled her to maintain a stiff upper lip through all this trauma. As you know, she is a fighter and hangs in there using every bit of hope possible. May we ask again for further prayers on her behalf as she will start radiation treatments on Monday. After lengthy consultations between Mayo Clinic and Scott & White pathology doctors and redoing lab tests, a decision has been made on the type of treatment they feel will benefit her most. Physical therapy has kept her body somewhat responsive and she has been working to keep her upper torso strong enough to enable her to sit up in her wheelchair. On a brighter side, Erin and Tracy received an early present from Erin's cousin where they will attend an IMAX showing of Avatar" on Christmas Eve. She is really looking forward to it. May each of you have a great and prosperous holiday season. Thanks again for your prayers. Nancy and Barney Eaton Monday, December 7, 2009I talked to tracy on sunday Dec 6 and erin was doing pretty good. Erin has asked for pictures of contestants, officials and royality. If you fit into that category, can you please send her a picture of yourself or with others and put your name(s) on the back to help her remeber who you are. While you are sending her a picture please also send a card or even a Xmas card. She has a bulletin board set up to put them on and I would like to see it filled and them having to use the wall. Thanks to all of you have sent cards. Tracy said Erin got 13 in one day and it has helped so much. So keep up the good work. Tell all you know to send a photo and card and let's fill up her wall. For those who need the address again it is : Erin Eaton If any of you have time send her a small stuffed animal. Thanks again for all of you for sending the cards and well wishes. Erin was transferred from Scott & White hospital in Temple on Wednesday afternoon to a nursing facility in N. Austin very close to where we lived when we first moved here and about 1.5 miles from Denise. Scott & White could no longer hold her as a "critical" patient. She has an appointment 12/3 with a radiation Dr. and will probably start radiation treatment around 12/7 They want the surgery on her spine to heal at least two weeks before starting radiation and 12/4 would be two weeks. The doctors at S & W indicated the radiation would probably be 5 days a week for 6 weeks....... which would put the finish around 1/15. Her condition is about the same, her sprits are good. After the surgery on 11/20 she did developed some blood clots in her lungs and they put her on blood thinner (which they didn't want to do because of the brain problem, but it was a must) She eats well and anything she wants. We supplied her with turkey, ham, dressing, home made noodles, and at least 4 dessert. Since I have not seen her today, she will be a little disappointed that A & M did not beat Texas last night but based on the score they made it a good game. We would have liked to have her a little closer to Georgetown but they had trouble finding a qualified facility in our area that would take her Blue Cross insurance.....seems strange. The facility has a handicap bus/van that can take her to her treatments.....a must because we could not move her from bed to wheelchair to car and back without the fear of hurting her or us. At the present time, Tracy can sleep in the room as it is a two patient room but the facility is not that full and they are going to do what they can to keep her by herself, as she is the youngest patient there. When I finish this note and round up all the things they requested, I will be heading that way to relieve Tracy. It is a little closer but because of traffic about the same amount of time on the road as going to Temple. It is 29 miles and take 40 minutes with average traffic......at 8:00 am and quitting time it will be 50 + minutes one way. If anyone wants to pass this to other friends of Erin, feel free. The address of the new place is........... Hartland Manor Care Barney Eaton Wednesday, November 25, 2009They had some challenges this weekend with some blood clots in her lungs, but managed to get those under control. The hospital has reached the point that there is not any looming "emergencies" for her, so they are moving her to a skilled nursing facility where she can still get her care, but not at the expense of a trauma center. As soon as she has healed from the surgery last week on the tumors on her spine, they will begin radiation (hopefully by early next week). They are moving her today to: Erin asked for people to not send flowers, but would rather have cards and pictures of her friends. She wants to be able to see all her friends on the wall as she works through her challenges. As always, for any further questions or details, please contact either myself at voicerodeo@aol.com or Thom Brennan at tbngrendel@aol.com Thank you all (for Erin and Tracy) for your love, compassion, and support. I know for this Thanksgiving, Erin is very thankful for all her friends in the rodeo community who have been there supporting them through this challenging time. Lewis Sanders Monday, October 26, 2009Erin underwent a biopsy of her brain today and the doctors discovered that she has cancer. She is recovering at the hospital and will be released to go home in the next day or so. As you can well imagine Erin, Tracy and their family are going through a full range of emotions dealing with this. In the next several days they will be receiving additional diagnosis and treatment recommendations and deciding on the most appropriate course of action. Erin and Tracy have asked me to pass on to you their thanks for the prayers and wishes they have received, and that they would appreciate their continuance. There are many issues that will have to be dealt with in the coming days and weeks and the support of friends and family is the most potent treatment that Erin can have. We will be passing on as much information as we can - and please keep the prayers coming. Please contact me if you have any questions Thom Brennan
