Tennent Emmons, Mr. IGRA 2017
1st Runner-Up

Tennent Emmons, Mr. IGRA 2017 1st Runner-Up:

Tennent is a New Jersey native; but had a heart of a cowboy. He became involved with the IGRA circuit in October of 1993 when he attended his first rodeo - Atlantic Stampede Rodeo in Washington, DC as a spectator and danced with one of the drag performers. His 2nd spectator rodeo was Great Plains Regional Rodeo in Oklahoma City in May 1994.

In 1994, he started competing on the circuit at ASGRA in Goat Dressing (pulling two hamstrings) and Chute Dogging. In 1995, he provided support as a go-fer for OGRA, the week before and the week after the rodeo.

Tennent won his first ribbon in Steer Deco (2nd place) at the Dixieland Regional Rodeo in Atlanta, GA in 1995 and again in 1996 at the Atlantic Stampede Rodeo, his last year of competition (a short-lived career), he ribboned this time in Wild Drag (5th & 2nd) and was a very fine looking Drag.

In 1997, Tennent moved to Oklahoma City. Upon retiring from competition, Tennent started working on the Certified Official Program: Certified Scorekeeper: 1996 - 2006 and continued the road to a Certified Secretary: 2000 - 2006. From 2006 to 2016, Tennent continued his support at Great Plains Rodeos and several Texas rodeos.

In 2015, Tennent decided to run as Mr. OGRA/GPRA candidate and in November, he won the title Mr. OGRA/GPRA 2016. In 2016, Tennent came out of retirement and returned to competition, winning a ribbon for Goat Dressing (5th) at the Texas Tradition Rodeo. At the IGRA World Gay Rodeo Finals - he competed for the Mr. IGRA title and took home the Red sash as Mr. IGRA 2017 1st Runner-Up and competed in Goat Dressing with the Fabulous, Mary Arbuckle.

I want to wish everyone involved with IGRA and its associations, "Have a great time at each rodeo and cherish every moment."
