Rickey Phoummany, Mr. IGRA 2017 2nd Runner-Up:

Rickey is originally from Watauga, TX a little suburb outside of Fort Worth, TX, where he graduated from Haltom High School and was involved in numerous extra-curricular activities and organizations. Rickey graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Minor in Education.

While at Tech, he was a member and served as President of the University Dance Company where he learned from Ailey II and Pilobolus professional dance companies. He was also a performer and choreographer for Texas Tech's Hip Hop Team; Dancers With Soul and also performed with Ballet Lubbock a pre-professional school in the Nutcracker and Cinderella. He also performed in numerous musicals and served as dance captain with Lubbock Moonlight Musicals.

Rickey was selected to represent Texas Tech at American College Dance Festival in Las Cruces, New Mexico and Laredo, Texas and his final choreography piece was chosen to be performed amongst his professor's at DanceTech; Artisrty in Motion. Rickey also served with the Texas Tech University Student Government Association as Senator for the Visual and Performing Arts. He also served on the board and was a morale captain for RaiderThon, known as a Dance Marathon raising monies benefiting The Children's Miracle Network. He was a member of the Texas Tech Men's Chorus known as the Matador Singers and also a part of the Zeta Pi chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Rickey has choreographed for numerous high school show choirs, dance programs, drill teams, and performed professionally here in DFW in numerous local theatre companies' productions and has even been a Column Awards final nominee for the Chita Rivera Male Dancer Award! Along with teaching, he is currently singing, dancing, and choreographing for the world renowned men's chorus, The Turtle Creek Chorale in Dallas, TX.

He is an educator at a local high school in Oak Cliff/Dallas, TX. where he teaches and is the Director of dance. Rickey established the Dance Program at his high school in the 2014-2015 school year. He is currently going on his 4th year as the Director of Dance, 3rd year as the Leopardette Drill Team Director and Borealis Colorguard Director and has started a Dance Company for the 2017-2018 school year as well for the students at his school.

Rickey has been involved with TGRA and IGRA since 2015. He competed in his first ever rodeo events at the Great Plains Rodeo in OKC in 2015. Rickey earned the title Mr. TGRA 2016 and then went on to earn the title of Mr. IGRA 2017 2nd Runner Up.

He has been involved with numerous organizations in Dallas which is where he started a lot of his charity work. He has competed in the Turtle Creek Chorale's Miss Big Thickette Pageant twice under his alter ego Tsunami Starr, where all the monies raised benefitted TCC and Prism Health North Texas formerly known as Aids Arms. He has held the title of Mr. Charity America 2015 benefiting Home for the Holidays Texas, Inc. but now with a new beneficiary as Texas Red Ribbon Wish Network. He has also been a part of the United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Prince to reign 41.
