Theresa Ashley was born on September 22nd 1983 in Waukegan Illinois and grew up in a small town in Illinois called Deselm. She served in the Marine Corps from 2002 to 2007 and the Naval Reserves from 2007 to 2009.
Theresa slowly came to the realization of who she was, and she came out as transgender at the age of 33 in 2017. She stumbled upon Charlie's Chicago where she began to country dance again. In 2019 she was asked by ILGRA if she would like to run for Ms. ILGRA 2019.
Since that day she has been active in the association and has been one of several who have been working on returning the rodeo back to the Chicagoland area. She has also reached out to the Imperial Court and looks forward to not only working with organizations around the Chicagoland area to spread the word about Gay Rodeo but to also help raise money and awareness for other LGBTQ+ issues.
