Shannon McKenzie

(Shannon McKenzie Perkins)

Shannon McKenzie has been a member of the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association for four years. She currently serves as Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator for the Arizona Gay Rodeo. She is also a consultant to Virtual Arizona Pride, an organization which began during the 2020 pandemic to produce and promote virtual events.

An accomplished dancer and choreographer, she specializes in many styles including Western and line dance genres. Some of her credits include: Coca Cola Olympic City, The Fiesta Bowl, USofA Pageantry, Miss Gay America Pageantry, March for Equality, Rainbows Fest, Phoenix Pride, Scottsdale Western Week & Aconav Fashion. Her former dance students can be seen performing with Cirque du Soleil, Radio City Rockettes, Pro Sports Teams, and in various Broadway Musicals. She is currently the resident choreographer at Charlie's Phoenix, creating show stopping productions for the house entertainers and Charlie's Show Dancers.

Her passion for Rodeo started as a child when she would visit the annual Payson Rodeo with her family, helping at their vendor booth. As a native Arizonan, she has a strong appreciation for the way rodeo has shaped the culture of the southwest. When she discovered how dedicated AGRA and IGRA are to raising funds for charity, she knew she had found an organization that she wanted to be involved with. She was honored to attend the 2019 IGRA convention and is extremely grateful for all that she has learned during her years of membership.
