Buckle and Ribbon Requirements
Buckles
You need to order two (2) All-Around buckles and twenty-seven (27) event buckles. Buckles will be awarded to:
- The All-Around Cowboy and Cowgirl based on most total points earned.
- The Contestants or Teams achieving the best combined time or score of both go-rounds.
- Some Associations choose non-gender buckles as we ride, rope and run the same events.

When ordering event buckles you need to specify the event, but it is a good idea to be non-gender specific with your buckle designs. This allows you to use any leftover awards from one gender for possible ties in the other.
Ribbons
Ribbons will be awarded to a minimum of the first five (5) places per go-round, per event. It is recommended that ribbons be non-gender specific and not dated so that leftovers can be re-used. You can choose to award more ribbons at your leisure. To provide enough (non-gender specific) ribbons for both days you need to order four (4) ribbons for each if the 1st through 5th places for the following events:
- Bull Riding (20 ribbons)
- Bareback Bronc Riding (20 ribbons) (Optional Event)
- Calf Roping on Foot (20 ribbons)
- Ribbon Roping (20 ribbons) (Optional Exhibition Event)
- Team Roping (20 ribbons)
- Barrel Race (20 ribbons)
- Goat Dressing (20 ribbons)
- Steer Riding (20 ribbons)
- Chute Dogging (20 ribbons)
- Breakaway Roping (20 ribbons)
- Pole Bending (20 ribbons)
- Flag Race (20 ribbons)
- Steer Decorating (20 ribbons)
To provide enough (non-gender specific) ribbons for both days you need to order six (6) ribbons for each if the 1st through 5thplaces for the following event:
- Wild Drag Race (3 ribbons for each place each day = 30 ribbons)
You also need to order ribbons for the All-Around Cowboy, his four runners-up, and the All Around Cowgirl and her four runners-up. That is an additional ten (10) ribbons. These should be larger and more elaborate than the event ribbons, and should be gender-specific. Your total ribbon count could be between 260 and 300 ribbons depending on the events offered. It is recommended that you order a few extra ribbons in case of ties. The Hosting Association may choose to award additional “honorary” buckles or ribbons to honor special contributors or VIPs, such as:
- Grand Marshal(s)
- Local Political Dignitaries
- Entertainment Celebrities
- Major Sponsors or Supporters
- Any other appropriate purpose
- All-Around Categories (Rough Stock, Roping, Speed, Camp, etc)
